Puerto Paraiso Mall,

heart of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur in México. This is paradise

Location:
The
Baja California Peninsula extends 1,100 km from the U.S. border to the
southern tip. Its widest point is approx. 230 km. Most of it is
separated from mainland Mexico by the Gulf of California (former Sea of
Cortes). It has a long, varied coastline on both sides.
Cabo San Lucas is located at the
southern tip of the Baja Península.
Population:
Los Cabos boast around
203,000 residents as per statistics of 2006. It’s composed by few
locals or “Cabeños” and people from Mazatlan, Guadalajara and Mexico
City preponderantly.
Climate:
The Los Cabos area has a near perfect ‘dry tropical’ climate. The
cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean and the warming influence of the
Gulf of California, creates this fabulous climate. The rain comes mainly
in September, and the area has experienced long periods with no rain
whatsoever. The occasional tropical storms drops some rain in the
summer, but most of the time it is a desert environment. The area can
experience 350 sunny days per year! |

Language:
Spanish
is the official language of the Los Cabos region, but as with most
tourist destinations in Mexico, English is widely spoken.
Money:
The
Mexican peso is the official currency. The exchange rate fluctuates, but
banks are usually the best place to exchange money. Most prices in Baja
are quoted in pesos, but tourist centers use both. Peso prices are
indicated by the symbol $ before the amount.
Time Zone:
Mountain
Standard Time which is one hour ahead of the Pacific Standard
Time; one hour behind Central Standard Time and two hours
behind Eastern Standard Time.
